Clean Coal?

I believe, some people would believe anything!
Interestingly the brothers Coen have stepped in with the Reality Coalition (nothing to do with coal!) to produce some television ads to counter the above. New kid on the block, President Obama’s vision of a more energy efficient America is a good outlook although his support for “clean coal” may the the result of pressure from the coal industry. However there are no signs of the coal industry investing in research of technologies to capture carbon in the stacks and send it back deep underground and even so this solution does not have much weight in the short term. It seems they are more interested on spending money on Obama style ad campaigns to warm people into believing that coal is naturally clean.
So as well as the Reality Coalition, Greenpeace et al there is the Coal Is Dirty site getting information out there about all of this. It is a good resource and I recommend taking a look.

Check it out here and have a look out how using social media may be backfiring on them in the comments (but at least they allow them, to be fair to them).
