Good statistics animation from the folks at Good Magazine. Had to throw this one in given the apt title.
I like stats, me. It is interesting to look at mathematical and then graphical representations of data which show the ebb and flow of the world we live in. Generally it is the tool of choice when demonstrating comparisons which are intended to make us sit up and pay attention. But what lies behind stats?
Much of the time policy makers, banks and corporations base there decisions on stats without every seeing the real thing. They can be so removed for reality and their accuracy is often questionable. However it is part of our communication and the best we we know of highlighting information for bite-sized news.
